APRIL 2007

Vardar Alumni Simon Omekanda to play in Sweden

Vardar alumni Simon Omekanda has signed professionally to play in Europe. We are very proud of Simon’s accomplishments and wish him the best of luck with his career.

Two more collegians have bypassed MLS and signed with European clubs.

Penn State's Simon Omekanda, picked by Chicago in the fourth round of the 2007 SuperDraft, signed with Swedish club IF Norrkoping. The two-time All-Big Ten First Team was born in Morocco and spent time in Belgium before moving to Rochester Hills, Mich., where he was the 2002 Mr. Michigan as the state's top prep player.

Ryan Guy, who starred at San Diego, was taken by FC Dallas in the second round of MLS's SuperDraft but signed with Ireland's St Patrick's Athletic after tryouts in England with Crystal Palace and Germany with Hannover. He scored eight goals for the Toreros in 2006.
